Tarragona, Living History (15 July-2 September)
On summer evenings, TARRAGONA transforms its legacy into a LIVING HISTORY. From 15 July to 2 September 2017, the city offers the opportunity to take a fascinating trip back in time to its Roman past with a series of historical reconstructions that will show you how the inhabitants of Tarraco used to live. Every Saturday evening you can also relive the gladiatorial battles in the Amphitheatre which, supported by the use of the latest technologies, guarantees a unique and unforgettable experience. Sant Magí (14-19 August)
This is one of the city’s major festivals and is celebrated with fascinating elements of local popular culture, such as Magí de les Timbales, the giants, the Gegantons Negritos, dwarves, bastoners (dancers hitting sticks together in rhythm) and more. All these festive figures come together to accompany the water of Sant Magí, the central focus of the festival. The castells (human towers) also play a role in the celebration, along with a wide variety of festive and cultural events (concerts, theatre, etc.).
