The only festival in Spain dedicated to dixieland, the origin of Jazz, popular music from New Orleans from the end of the 19th century. Every year it holds more than fifty concerts and activities in different areas as theatres, bars, restaurants and also in the open air.
This year, we will make every effort to hold in-person events whenever the situation allows, at all times in areas that fulfil all the requirements laid down by the health authorities, such as the Tarragona Theatre and other outdoor spaces. Thus thefive Dixieland concerts at the Tarragona Theatre, two more in the Kesse and Capsa de Música venues, and four performances in the square of the Rectorate of the Rovira i Virgili University are scheduled to go ahead. In this last venue there will be performances to suit every audience in terms of both style and budget to ensure that non-jazz enthusiasts can enjoy the festival just as much as jazz lovers!
One of the biggest new features of the festival is the expansion of its jazz-related offering. This year it is open to every artistic style of jazz, featuring concerts by the more traditional jazz bands such as the Stromboli Jazz Band and Andrea Mottis alongside the more modern jazz of Marco Mezquida and even other genres such as the soul of La Soul Machine.
